Repeated overhead sets against a wall to groove clean hand shape and a quiet, symmetric release.
10 minvolleyball, wall
Steps
01Stand about three feet from a wall, feet shoulder-width with the right foot slightly forward and knees soft.
02Form a window with your thumbs and index fingers so the ball contacts the pads of all ten fingers above your forehead, thumbs pointing back toward your eyebrows.
03Set the ball into a spot on the wall slightly above your head, letting it load into the fingers and then extend fully through wrists, elbows, and knees.
04On the first few reps, freeze at contact to confirm the ball sits on the fingerpads and not the palms, then progress to continuous sets.
05Build to 25-30 consecutive contacts with no palm slap and no sideways spin.
Common mistakes
Contacting with the palms so the ball slaps off with heavy spin.
Setting below the forehead so the hands push flat instead of extending up and through.
Locking the wrists, which kills the soft load-and-release and turns the set into a stiff punch.
