Isolate a repeatable serving toss by tossing to a fixed height and freezing to check placement before ever striking the ball.

Steps
01Set your serving stance with the non-hitting foot forward (right-handers: left foot forward), ball resting on the open palm of your non-hitting hand at waist height.
02Lift the ball with a straight non-hitting arm and release near forehead height so it peaks roughly two feet above your extended hitting hand, slightly in front of your hitting shoulder.
03Do not swing: let the ball drop and catch it, freezing your hitting arm cocked high behind your ear to confirm the toss stayed in your hitting window.
04Repeat 10 tosses and mark the floor spot where each untouched ball lands, aiming to land all 10 inside a one-foot circle.
05Only once 8 of 10 tosses are consistent, add a slow swing to contact while keeping the same toss.
Common mistakes
Tossing off a bent, flicking wrist that puts spin on the ball and randomizes its height.
Releasing too far in front of or behind the hitting shoulder, forcing a reach or a jammed swing.
Tossing too high, giving the ball time to drift and rushing the swing.
