Deep Corner Serve Ladder

Steps

1. 01Mark a two-metre box in each deep corner of the far court.
2. 02Serve five to the deep right box, then five to the deep left, calling the box before the toss.
3. 03Score a rep only when the ball lands in the named box: a good serve to the wrong corner is a miss for this drill.
4. 04Once you hit 3 of 5 to both, alternate corners every serve so the target moves and the toss has to stay identical.
5. 05Finish with five serves where a partner stands in one corner and you serve the other.

Common mistakes

• Adding pace to reach depth instead of raising the contact and swinging through the top of the ball.
• Letting the toss drift toward the corner you are aiming at, which tells the receiver where it is going.
• Serving deep down the middle, which is the one deep ball two defenders can both reach.
