Ten in the Hoop

Steps

1. 01Place a hoop (or rope ring) at the setter's target spot; a feeder stands 15-20 ft away and tosses or down-balls to you.
2. 02Pass each ball so it lands inside the hoop, contacting the same mid-forearm point every rep.
3. 03Control the pace by absorbing harder feeds with a giving platform and lifting softer feeds with a slight leg extension, not an arm swing.
4. 04Keep the peak height consistent at 10-12 ft so the tempo to the target repeats rep to rep.
5. 05Count consecutive passes that land in the hoop, reset to zero on a miss, and chase a streak of 10.

Common mistakes

• Using the arms to punch the ball instead of legs plus a quiet platform, spraying the pass.
• Contacting an inconsistent point (near the wrists one rep, near the elbows the next), causing erratic height.
• Letting the arc vary wildly rep to rep so tempo to the setter is never repeatable.
