Two-Player Court Coverage

Steps

1. 01Split the court with your partner and agree out loud who owns the line and who owns the angle before the drill starts.
2. 02Have a third person hit or throw balls into random space from across the net.
3. 03Defend only your own zone, letting balls in your partner's zone go, so the boundary becomes real rather than polite.
4. 04Then release the rule: any ball landing between you is pursued by BOTH, and the rep is scored on whether either of you got a platform to it.
5. 05Run 20 balls, then swap zones so you defend the side you are weaker on.

Common mistakes

• Both players chasing every ball, which leaves the rest of the court empty for the next one.
• Standing up between contacts, so the first step of every pursuit is a drop rather than a drive.
• Digging with the platform only, rather than moving the whole body behind the ball.
